random rant about my album

I've always been fond of dystopian fiction, epic cities where the undead roam - it's paralells to real life.. Walkin out my flat into a swarm of smackheads begging for change, co-existing alongside the inner city yuppies, along strolls everyday folk. Every city has a character - I wanted to create a city in my mind, I think you can hear it within the music - it's dark, gloomy, eerie, no set date or time. This type of music has a tribal dancing element about it - you see it in the clubs, everyone following each other's moves, all in time to the repetitive loops of the drum and bass - its amazing, just like cavemen of 6000 B.C. I don't know why this tradition has continued, will forever continue - and it applies to people too. Everyone copying each other to make up their own unique personas, just as it applies to musicians... You hear things you like and you put it together and create your own individual sound. It's funny thinking of the influences that got me to make this album - the Xbox 360 game 'Bioshock' was a big one.. the manga 'Akira', films like Fight Club, Oldboy, Pi + the game Final Fantasy 7. Musically, I listen to a lot of dubstep. 1 of the tracks on here is me imitating Boxcutter to an extent, 1 is me imitating Burial, i like the vibes from Digital Mystikz simplicity, I like the way the drops sound in Skream's anthems. I like drum n bass too, Noisia and Spor are 2 of my particular favourites - the futuristic production blows my mind. I love melodies and learning music theory - I love Nobuo Uematsu who composes the Final Fantasy soundtrack, film scores, classical music, the OST to Lost. Lost's always an influence. I love drumloops, I love hip hop beats + I love the repetition that holds together music - like Miles Davis's album Dark Magus, getting the drummer and bassist to play the same thing for 25 minutes while the rest do whatever they like over the top of it. I love that idea of the low frequency sounds providing the rhythym, with the bass and the drums, throwing anything over the top of it. It's not as simple as that, but that's the core foundations. Wickeedddd. I'd love to create an epic dystopian novel, but I haven't got the strength.. so instead this is what I've made. There's no specific story, no specifics. Just moods, what its inside my head when I make the music - vague pictures inside my mind.. Dark alleyways, giant futuristic cities, evil dictatorship, small joys, downfall, from blissful euphoria to melancholy and depression. Is this mine magnum opus? Nay... nay. But make what you will from it...
